Carrie Cox Wachter joined 色控传媒 in 2015 as the Coordinator of Sexual Violence Response Services in CARE and now serves as the Director of the Center for Student Advocacy and Wellness (CSAW), formerly the offices of CARE and HPaW. In this role, she leads strategic initiatives that advance student well-being, holistic development, and institutional accountability. Carrie oversees a comprehensive portfolio of programs focused on student support, trauma-informed advocacy, and wellness education, while collaborating across departments to foster a more supportive and empowering campus environment. She guides policy development, supervises a dedicated team, and ensures that CSAW’s interventions are equity-centered and responsive to the evolving needs of 色控传媒’s diverse student community.
Carrie holds an MA in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University, with a focus on family systems impacted by generational trauma, and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Prior to her work at 色控传媒, she led the Education and Training team at Resilience (formerly Rape Victim Advocates) in Chicago, where she brought a sex-positive lens to her advocacy. She also spent several years in private practice supporting individuals and families navigating trauma.
Her commitment to systemic change extends beyond campus. Carrie has contributed to regional initiatives including the Chicago Task Force on Violence Against Young Women and Girls, and has actively lobbied for comprehensive sexual health education in Chicago Public Schools.
She has almost two decades of experience working with individuals harmed by GBV and is committed to helping empower students through advocacy, education, and promoting self-determination. Born and raised in Chicago, her free time is usually spent biking or having impromptu dance parties with her daughters.
