If an instructor indicates that exams will be proctored at Testing Services, students must schedule each exam appointment through the at least 1 week in advance of the exam date.
Testing Services helps to coordinate exam logistics between students and instructors. Please email Testing Services at testing@northwestern.edu if you have a course-related conflict that interferes with exam scheduling or questions about receiving your test accommodations.
See below for details of how to schedule exam appointments and what to expect at Testing Services.
Schedule Within Class Time
Exams should be scheduled during the course’s regular testing time and within Testing Services’ proctoring hours.
If a class scheduling conflict or timing issue occurs, students and instructors should find an alternative time and email the agreement to Testing Services. Contact Testing Services if coordination assistance is needed.
Late Requests
Requests submitted less than 1 week before the exam are considered late and will be reviewed based on space and staffing availability.
Students must email or call Testing Services directly for late requests. Include: Student name; Course number & name; Requested exam date & time; Alternative date or timing & approval from instructor if applicable; Reason for late request.
Cancelled or No Show Exams
If a student cannot attend a scheduled exam, cancel or reschedule through the ANU Student Portal and notify both the instructor and Testing Services.
Students who miss an exam without advance notice will be marked as a No Show, and both the student and instructor will receive an email notification.
Canceling unneeded exam appointments helps ensure availability for others.
Exam Appointment Approval Process
After submitting an exam appointment request:
Testing Services will review each exam appointment request at least 3 business days before the exam date.
Testing Services Staff may contact students for additional information if a request does not match the course’s Testing Services Proctoring Agreement.
If there is no Testing Services Proctoring Agreement for the course, Testing Services Staff will coordinate with the instructor.
Students will receive a confirmation email when their exam appointment is approved by Testing Services.
Students may review the status of exam appointment requests in the under “Upcoming Exams Scheduled” in the Alternative Testing module.
